When the sebaceous follicle get over active due to hormones in pubescence more bacteria is also produced. These bacteria are called Propionibacterium Acnes and are usually present in the skin. An excess production of these bacteria is what causes acne to appear on the surface of the skin. To make it simple clogged pores are the main cause of acne.
