The best method in any prevention, and acne scar healing is to catch the problem before it gets worse. So if you feel you're developing an acne scar catch it early, because early acne scars can be treated in a lot easier cost affective ways. such as:
*Using Tretinoin, Retin-A, Avita, Renova can help. This is commonly used for wrinkle treatments, but Tretinoin is a combination of vitamin A acid, and retinoic acid. This comes in different strengths, and forms such as gels, creams, and liquids. It is also used to treat acne, and sun damage. the average dose is once per day.
*Using sunscreen when out in the sun can be a factor in acne scar healing. Being out in the sun without proper protection may worsen acne scars, and or even cause acne scars. you may not be aware of it but unprotected sun exposure can really damage your skin.
*One of the most important things in acne scar healing and the prevention of acne scars is "DON'T PICK YOUR SCABS, AND DON'T POP YOUR PIMPLES" sorry for the caps, but if you've had a parent. They always told you don't pick scabs. so why pick at your pimples. this is your body's natural way to deal with your infection/problem. so do not interrupt your body's natural healing process.
Now that we have covered treating your acne scars before they worsen. what happens if its too late for that? What if you just didn't have that information before, and now you have developed a more severe case of acne scars. What different treatments are there now? Although there are a lot of different treatments for Acne Scar Healing at an advanced level lets name a few.
*Antibiotics proscribed by a dermatologist.
*Punch Excision - This uses a punch biopsy tool that is a sharp round tool which ranges in size from 1.5 mm to 3.5 mm. they figure the size of the tool by matching it with the size of the scar to go around the inside edge of the scar. this is preformed under local anesthesia. this can weaken the scars appearance or even completely remove the scar, but if it's still slightly visible it can be followed up with resurfacing techniques.
*Skin Graft Replacement - The punched scar is fulled with a skin graft. it's usually taken from a place not noticeable like behind an ear. a lot of times a color difference can be noticeable, but can be followed up with skin resurfacing. about 6 weeks after the procedure.
*Subcision or Subcutaneous incision is usually used to separate the fibrous bands. This procedure is also performed under local anesthesia. How the procedure works is a needle is inserted in between the subcutaneous tissue and the dermis almost parallel to the skins surface. the needle is than pushed in and out cutting the bands. When this procedure is performed it will cause bruising, but it usually goes away in 1 - 2 weeks. there are also risks involved with this procedure such as: formation of subcutaneous nodules, and bleeding. the nodules can be fixed by treating it with corticosteroids by injecting it into the nodules. The bleeding will also be treated with bandaging, and anesthetics.
*Punch Elevation is done by using the same tool as the punch excision, and starts of very similar the only difference is its then elevated to the top of the skin, then attached with sutures or Dermabond. This method will weaken the risk of texture differences, discoloration, and scars.
Please Note - you will need to consult a dermatologist to know which method to use
according to your specific scar.
So there you have it basic or advanced that is just some of the different methods of acne scar healing that can be applied. there are other methods, and a lot of similar surgical methods that can be used in treating acne scars, but this information should come from a licensed dermatologist in your area. Remember if you have acne scars its better to catch them sooner than later. So I really recommend you book an appointment immediately with your local dermatologist before the scars can become more severe.
